Beginner Dance Camp

Summer Dance Camp for Beginners Ages 4 to 7

For new dancers, Summer Dance Camp is the best way to try our studio and experience all the styles of dance that we teach. Come try some ballet, tap, jazz and modern! We will also be playing lots of games and doing a daily craft.

No dress code applies to our beginner summer camp – your child can wear any clothing comfortable for dancing. However, students need a clean pair of running shoes for tap dancing. Students bring their own snacks and lunch.

Alexa will be assisted by senior students. There is a maximum group size of 30 students.

Your Week at Beginner Dance Camp

At our summer dance camp, each day has a theme to inspire our dancers:

  • Day 1: Get to know you day
  • Day 2: Animal day (dress like an animal or bring your favourite stuffed animal)
  • Day 3: Prince/Princess day (Dress like your favourite prince or princess)
  • Day 4: Beach day (Dress in a summery outfit and bring a towel for fun)
  • Day 5: Party day (Dress in your favourite party dress or outfit)

At the end of the week we will have a little recital performance at 2:30 to show off all the dancing that your child has learned.

Why Choose Trio Danceworks for Summer Dance Camp?

Our summer dance camp is a fun introduction to our dance program. Unlike other dance camps, our dance camp offers a path to train to the highest levels of vocational dance, to dance competitively, and to perform in the Nutcracker

Our summer dance camp for beginners is affordable ($250/week) and offers a small group (max 30 students).

Summer Camp is an introduction to the Trio Danceworks community. Your child will meet senior students and can continue to dance and perform with their summer camp friends through the year.

But like other dance camps, our beginner dance camp is a lot of fun!

A Dance Camp for 4-Year Olds, 5-Year Olds to 6-Year Olds and 7 year olds

Our beginner summer dance camp is limited to children ages 4 to 7 years old. This ensures that you child will be placed with children of a similar age.

We understand the capacity of children in this age range. While our camp focuses on dance, we keep students engaged by teaching a variety of styles and including breaks, crafts, and games that break up the day. Alexa is a Grade 1 teacher with advanced qualifications as a kindergarten specialist.

After completing our summer camp for beginners and turning age 6, children can participate in our August Intensive Dance Camp to join our competitive team.

Please contact us if your child has special needs so that we can discuss whether our camp is a fit for them and what accommodations would be required.

Dance Camp Builds Confidence, Interpersonal Skills, Strength and Coordination

Q: My child is shy. Is this a good summer camp for shy children?

A: Yes! Dance camp is ideal for shy children because they can participate and build confidence moving as part of a group. This was actually the subject of Alexa’s undergraduate thesis! Unlike other sports, all students at the studio are on the same team.

Q: My child is not very coordinated. Is this a good summer camp for developing strength and coordination?

A: Yes! We focus on helping all students develop their skills and fulfilling their potential. All students, including those with disabilities, are welcome at our studio.

Q: English is not my child’s first language. Is this a good summer camp for children who speak limited English?

A: Yes! Although the camp is taught in English, dance and craft activities are easy to follow and fun even for campers who do not speak English. Alexa is fluent in French and many of our campers typically speak Chinese at home.
